College Interview

Excelling in a college interview should be your highest priority since it is the foundation your future career. After the sincere preparation and confidence that gets the student to college, a college interview is a student’s first stepping stone to into the interview cloud. As a student, you will go into the interview room with no prior experience but this does not mean that it is impossible to crack an interview like a professional. The factors that one will need to succeed are a clear aim, dream and craving towards success.

A few things need to be prepared before the interview.

Check newspapers and internet to get information regarding college admission. After you obtain an application form fill it out and be sure to submit it before the last date. Apply for more than one college to increase your chances of getting called to one.

Do research about the college. There is a lot of information regarding colleges, their history, achievements, and awards in the internet.

Prepare for your favorite subject. The question on your favorite subject will definitely be asked, get ready to answer such questions and also prepare on all topics studied in that school.

Prepare a speech and an essay of a topic you like. The best topics to choose are those of successful people, subjects you studied, inventions etc. It is however recommended that you choose a topic related to the course you have applied for study.

Improve your communication and vocabulary. You can only make full use of the speech and essay with good communication skills. Take training courses to improve our vocabulary inn readiness for the interview.

Build a resume. Though making the resume is not always an easy task, you can try to make it as good as possible. It need not be so impressive, make one even if you have no stuff to include in it. It will help give you a professional look.

To avoid being late for the interview while you search for the venue of the morning of the interview, know the route the venue least a day before the interview.

Choose the best and professional looking attire. Buy one if you don’t have business attire. Since you are a soon to-be professional you should look elegant and confident and jeans, bright colored dresses, piercing are a no. you should also cover up tattoos if you have them on your body.

Most important things to be considered on the day of the interviews are:

Check your hair, nails, teeth and check for bad breath, and avoid using chewing gum hair color or a strong perfume.

Take all required documents like certificates, resume, reference letters etc.

Do not take your parents for the interview. This may give the impression that you are immature. Show your confidence by speaking for yourself.

Basic interview etiquette requires that you knock the door before entering. Do not create a bad impression while entering.

Start with a firm professional handshake. Do not be rough or too weak.

Introduce yourself by name. Tell the interviewers which school and locality you are from and your interests.

Do not give wrong answers. Answer only those questions that you know of their answers.

Never lie in an interview to avoid being caught out.
